Mid-Day Meal Scam: Adulterated Milk Served To Son
Another case of irregularity in the mid-day meal scheme has come to light in Uttar Pradesh, where over 81 children were given one litre milk diluted in one bucket of water. The incident has caused havoc in the education department of Salaibanwa primary school in Kota village panchayat of Chopan block in Sonbhadra.

Schoolchildren say that when they were given milk to drink; it was mixed in water.

Meanwhile, the worker responsible for giving diluted milk to schoolchildren has also admitted that one packet of milk was mixed in a bucket of water. She said that there were around 85 kids and only one packet of milk.

Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) Gorakhnath Patel, who reached the school for an inquiry into the matter, said that investigation is on and action will be taken once it is complete.

Some months ago, an incident of giving roti and salt to schoolkids in mid-day meals had come to light in U.P.’s Mirzapur. This is not the first incident of irregularities in mid-day meals in U.P. Before this too, several cases of corruption in this scheme have been reported.

Earlier, in the Lok Sabha, Human Resource Development minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ had presented statistics of corruption in the mid-day meal scheme, in which U.P.’s Yogi government was at the first spot.
