NCRB Data Shows Rise In Crimes Against Women
Crimes against women are on the rise for the third year in a row, with Uttar Pradesh topping the list of states, the National Crime Record Bureau data, released on Monday, showed.

NCRB’s latest data showed out of 50,07,044 total number of crime cases, as many as 3,59,849 cases of crime against women were registered across the country in 2017. The number was 3,38,954 in 2016 and 3,29,243 in 2015.


UP registered 35,908 cases of crimes against women in 2017, in comparison to 49,262 cases in 2016 and 56,011 cases in 2015.

Delhi, however, saw a decline in crimes against women for the third straight year. As many as 13,076 FIRs were registered in 2017, down from 15,310 in 2016 and 17,222 in 2015, the NCRB report said.

Madhya Pradesh reported 29,788 similar cases and Bihar had 14,711 cases in 2017.
