Nepalese Migrant Workers Trapped By Lockdown At In
The migration of lakhs of migrant workers from metro cities in several states has taken place after the coronavirus lockdown. Due to this, there is a risk of the coronavirus infection spreading in the country’s rural areas as well.

More or less all state governments are claiming that they are monitoring daily wagers who have reached their villages after migrating from metros like Delhi, Mumbai and Gurgaon. It has been ordered to keep all labourers under quarantine for 14 days. 


Amid this, the Central government has ordered all states to seal their borders and said that movement of people will have to be stopped completely.

Despite this, the migration of labourers towards the Delhi-UP border continues.

Delhi Civil Defence Officer Shailendra K Nirala said that the Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya in Ghazipur has been converted into a temporary shelter home for daily wagers and homeless. Around 400 daily wage labourers from UP, Bihar and Haryana who had gathered near the Anand Vihar Bus Terminal have been accommodated here.

Before the order of the Central government, several state governments had made arrangements for the return of daily wagers from their states.

Meanwhile, 2442 labourers from Karnataka who were working in Maharashtra have been brought back in 62 buses by the state government. 

India’s neighbour Nepal has also announced a nationwide lockdown on Sunday, due to which Nepalese citizens working in India are now stuck. Hundreds of Nepalese labourers are stranded, along with their luggage, on the Indo-Nepal border in Uttarakhand’s Dharchula.

So far, five positive cases of the coronavirus have been found in Nepal and the Nepal government has announced a week-long lockdown.
