Nirbhaya Case: Delhi Court Stays Execution Of 4 Co
Execution of all four convicts in Nirbhaya case has been postponed till further orders.

A Delhi court on Friday approved the plea filed by death row convicts seeking a stay on their hanging earlier scheduled for February 1 at 6 am.

The stay was sought on the ground that one of the convicts Vinay Sharma’s mercy petition is submitted before the President. As per rules, a death row convict must be given a notice of minimum 14 days after the rejection of  the mercy plea.

The other two convicts — Pawan Gupta and Akshay Kumar — have not yet availed the legal remedy of mercy plea, the lawyer said in an application.

The fourth convict Mukesh Kumar Singh, whose all legal remedies have been exhausted, also filed an application stating that he cannot be hanged in isolation when the other convicts’ legal remedies are pending.
