No Arrests In JNU Violence, Delhi Police Under Scrutiny
Even on the fourth day of the attack by masked men at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus on Sunday, Delhi Police have failed to arrest any assailant due to which Delhi Police’s intentions are being questioned.
Neither Hindu Raksha Dal’s Pinky Chaudhary, who had claimed responsibility for the attack, nor any other members of this group, have been arrested by Delhi Police till now.
Despite videos of the attackers going viral on social media, they remain out of the police’s grasp. Also, no one has been arrested till now on the basis of WhatsApp messages and mobile numbers which have gone viral on social media. Delhi Police are saying that an inquiry into the matter is ongoing; the JNU case is being probed by the Crime Branch. Delhi Police have registered an FIR in this case against JNU Students’ Union president Aishe Ghosh and several others. Meanwhile, demands for the resignation of JNU V-C M Jagadesh Kumar have become louder. Aishe Ghosh has said that V-C Kumar should resign. On Thursday, JNU Students’ Union and Teachers’ Union will take out a march against the attack in JNU; this march will start at Mandi House and reach Jantar Mantar. Students are demanding a rollback of the fee hike and prompt removal of V-C Kumar from his post.
