Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has clarified that the coronavirus infections is going to spread rapidly in the coming time. He said that there will be 44,000 cases in the national capital by June 15, 1 lakh by June 30, 2.25 lakh by July 15 and 5.32 lakh by July 31.

For the treatment of these patients, 6681 beds by mid-June, 15,000 beds by June-end, 33,000 beds by mid-July and 80,000 beds by July-end will be required.

Kejriwal said, “The centre has decided and this is not the time for bickering. Whatever the Centre has decided and the Lt Governor has ordered, that will be implemented. There will be no dispute or debate on this.”

Kejriwal said that Delhi faces an unprecedented challenge of providing beds for COVID-19 treatment. He said that the number of Delhiites who need hospitals beds equals the number of patients coming from outside who need beds.

He said that he himself will get started from tomorrow and go to stadiums, banquet halls and hotels to make arrangements.

He appealed to the Chief Ministers of neighbouring states to provide beds for patients in their States so that fewer people come to Delhi for treatment.
