Parliament's Winter Session Starts Today
The Winter Session of Parliament starts on Monday and is likely to witness heat as opposition parties look to corner the government over the issues of economic slowdown, farmers’ distress, unemployment and the Kashmir situation. While the government seeks to push as many as 27 bills, new and old, for passage including the Citizenship Amendment Bill, it will also try to pass the pending bills by both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

Ahead of the session, an all-party meeting was called by the government on Sunday, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured that the government is ready to discuss all the issues.

PM Modi asked the NDA allies to stick together despite having small differences. “We are a huge family and small differences should not unsettle us,” he said.

The Opposition has strongly raised the issue of detention of Lok Sabha MP Farooq Abdullah, demanding that he be allowed to attend the House.

The Shiv Sena, which had split from the NDA due to differences over government formation in Maharashtra, will now sit in opposition in the winter session.

The winter session of Parliament will run till 13 December.
