Polling Underway For 3rd Phase Of Jharkhand Assemb
Polling is underway since 7 a.m. on Thursday for 17 seats of eight districts in the third phase of the assembly elections in Jharkhand.

In the third phase, the reputations of veteran leaders like former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi, former deputy Chief Minister Sudesh Mahto, minister C.P. Singh and minister Neera Yadav are at stake.


There are 309 candidates in the fray in the third phase, among which 277 are males and 32 are females. In the third phase, more than 56 lakh voters will decide the fate of 309 candidates.

In this phase, the BJP is contesting elections on 16 seats, JVM on 17 seats, BSP on 15 seats, Congress on nine, AJSU on 14, JMM on six and RJD is contesting elections on two seats.

Keeping in mind the violent clashes during the first and second phases of voting in Jharkhand, central forces and district police forces have been deployed at polling booths in sensitive areas. In the third phase of polling in Jharkhand, several areas are Naxal-affected. 

In the last two phases, voting has been held on 33 seats of the Jharkhand Assembly. The first phase of voting was held on November 30 and the second phase of voting was held on December 7.

The Jharkhand assembly elections are being held in five phases and the results will be declared on December 23.
