Pragya Thakur Expelled From Defence Committee For
Calling Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin Nathuram Godse a patriot in Parliament has proven costly for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP and Malegaon blasts accused Pragya Thakur.

The BJP has criticised the statement by Pragya Thakur and taken action against her. BJP working president J.P. Nadda said, “The statement by Pragya Thakur is condemnable. BJP does not support this statement and is also not supportive of this kind of ideology.”

Nadda said further, “We have decided that Pragya Singh Thakur will be removed from the consultative committee on defence, and in this session, she will not be allowed to participate in the parliamentary party meetings.”

In his statement, Nadda repeated, “We are very clear about calling Nathuram Godse a patriot. We do not support this statement. We condemn it.”

However, Pragya Thakur has called Nathuram Godse a patriot earlier as well. In the 2019 general elections, she had called Bapu’s assassin Godse a patriot. At that time, PM Modi had said in an election rally that he will not be able to forgive Pragya Thakur from the heart.
