Progressive Muslims Issue Guidelines On Eid-Ul-Zuh
A progressive Muslim organisation has released a set of guidelines for Eid-ul-Zuha, urging people to maintain health, hygiene and public safety in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Indian Muslims for Progress and Reforms (IMPAR) has released 16-point guidelines seeking to ensure that social distancing and safety measures are adhered to, along with condemning attempts to create controversies in the name of Qurbani.

"Eid-ul-Zuha, commonly known as Bakr-Eid is expected to be celebrated on July 31, in which there is a tradition of Qurbani on this festival, and hence sensitivities involved, especially during the COVID-19 period," the organisation said.

There are also concerns about few State Governments and local administrations restricting Qurbani or issuing strict guidelines to maintain health and hygiene and public safety on account of the threat of coronavirus. In this context, IMPAR is issuing a 16 point guidelines to take care of all concerns from hygienic practices to social distancing norms and public safety, it said.

IMPAR also condemns the deliberate or designed attempts of certain people to create controversies in the name of Qurbani, either by asking people to go for it in violation of the Government guidelines or by those who are jumping to oppose to champion their political prospects.

"We saw it in the last two days politicians jumping into the fray with motivated agenda," the organisation said.

IMPAR had earlier issued COVID-19, Ramazan and Eid-ul-Fitr guidelines, which were very well followed by the community members. "Hope, these guidelines serve the purpose and also help the State Governments and local administrations in formulating their own guidelines to be issued," it said.
