SC-Appointed Mediation Panel To Meet Shaheen Bagh
Protests and strikes against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR) have been underway across the country for the past two months.

The protests which began from Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh have now spread to several cities in the country. Thursday is the 68th day of protests at Shaheen Bagh.

The three interlocutors appointed by the Supreme Court will go and meet protesters at Shaheen Bagh for the second consecutive day on Thursday. Earlier, on Wednesday, Sanjay Hegde, Sadhana Ramachandran and Wajahat Habibullah had met with the protesters at Shaheen Bagh but the meeting remained inconclusive.

While the three interlocutors do not want to speak to the protesters in front of the media, the protesters are insisting on doing just that. They also said that they will not back down until the CAA is repealed.

Lakhs of people protested against the CAA, NRC and NPR in Chennai and tried to encircle the State Secretariat on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad also participated in ongoing strikes against the CAA, NRC and NPR in Uttarakhand’s capital Dehradun on Wednesday.
