Shaheen Bagh Anti-CAA, NRC Protest Enters Day 63
Protests and strikes against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR) have been underway in various cities across the country for the past two months.

Protests by women are going on in Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh as well and Saturday is the 63rd day of protests there. A large demonstration against the CAA, NRC and NPR will be held at Mumbai’s Azad Maidan on Saturday.

Film director Anurag Kashyap reached Shaheen Bagh on Friday and participated in the protest and strike there. Kashyap said that like people were made to fear Gabbar in childhood, these days, people are made to fear the Home Minister. He also told people that this fight will go on for a long time.

Earlier, on the occasion of Valentine’s Day on Friday, protesters from Shaheen Bagh wished Prime Minister Narendra Modi a Happy Valentine’s Day in a unique manner. Protesters gave a Valentine’s Day card to PM Modi, in which they wrote, “PM Modi, please come to Shaheen Bagh, take your gift and talk to us.”

Meanwhile, people held a protest against the CAA and NRC at Chennai’s Washermanpet on Friday, during which clashes erupted between protesters and police and the police resorted to baton-charge on protesters. Afterward, police took more than 100 protesters into custody and later released them.

People from the Muslim community in Coimbatore protested on Friday night against the incident of baton-charge by police on protesters in Chennai.

Meanwhile, people at Bilal Bagh in Karnataka’s capital Bengaluru demonstrated with candles in support of Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh on Friday. A large number of Muslim women were also present at this demonstration.
