Thousands Of Migrants Lay Siege To Bandra Station After Failing To Board Special Train
Thousands of stranded migrant labourers burst out of Bandra Railway Station in Mumbai after they failed to board a Bihar-bound ‘Shramik Special train’.
Only 1,200 people who had registered were allowed to board the train while the rest of the crowd had been cleared by the police.
This broke the patience of the labourers and chaos ensued during which the rules of physical distancing were also broken.
The station is now completely empty and is being sanitised.
This is the second time migrants flocked to the station. In April, a fake WhatsApp news did rounds that special trains were being run to send the migrants back home. Mumbai police resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the huge crowd.
