Transport Strike Throws Delhi Out Of Gear
Delhi-NCR grinds to near-halt: No conveyance to office, passengers stranded at railway and bus stations and the airport-that was the scene as commuters in Delhi faced extreme hardship on Thursday due to the strike by transporters who are protesting against the stringently amended Motor Vehicle Act.
Schools in the capital region, which rely heavily on private bus operators, also remained closed. Citizens took to twitter to express their anguish, and there were some who came out in support of the government’s tough new norms.
Reports also came in from some areas of passengers being evicted from cabs which risked venturing onto the streets. The transports which are currently running during the ongoing #TransportStrike have hiked up their prices, further increasing the trouble for the commuters today. pic.twitter.com/ykc7or9bOw

#transportstrike is unwarranted and anti-community action by those with vested interests. We must support govt initiative which is meant to boost our safety, our road civic sense and to deter misconduct.#RuleOfLaw must be enforced. #MVAct @nitin_gadkari
