UP farmers march
Hundreds of farmers under the banner of Bhartiya Kisan Sangathan (BKS) have started a march from Noida to Delhi on Saturday after talks between members of the BKS and representatives of the Agriculture Ministry failed in Noida. They will march to Delhi's Kisan Ghat on September 21 over their demands of loan waiver, higher rate for sugarcane crops and the recently revised power tariff in Uttar Pradesh.

The protest march has badly affected the regular traffic movement near Noida Sector 62, where the procession is presently moving. They will be moving towards Kisan Ghat via Akshardham and ITO.

Farmer leaders say that they have come to put their demands peacefully but if the government tries to stop the protests, then they will start a hunger strike there. “If the BJP government tries to stop our movement, we will sit at the same place and start a hunger strike,” said Pooran Singh, national president for BKS, which is leading the agitation.

Given the farmers’ march, Noida administration is on alert whereas Delhi police have tightened security arrangements at the Delhi-UP border. The Kisan Mazdoor Adhikar Yatra started from UP’s Saharanpur on September 11 reached Noida on Friday.
