Plea Against Extradition: Vijay Mallya Willing To Pay '100% Of Principal Amount'
Liquor baron Vijay Mallya, who has escaped to London after taking funds from several Indian banks, has again offered to pay back the amount to the banks.
Speaking outside the Royal Court of Justice on Thursday, the last day of the hearing of his appeal against extradition to India, Mallya said that he is ready to return 100% of the principal amount taken from Indian banks.
Targeting the ED and CBI, Mallya said that whatever the two agencies have been doing to him for the past four years is totally wrong. Sixty-four-year old Mallya is accused of money laundering and of defrauding several Indian banks to the tune of Rs 9,000 crore. The ED and CBI are investigating this case. With an extradition warrant issued against him, Mallya is presently out on bail.
