IPL 2022: Highlights| Punjab Kings(PBKS) Thrash Ch
The Punjab Kings (PBKS) returned to the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 with a 54-run victory against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday.

In Punjab Kings' overwhelming victory against CSK, Liam Livingstone led from the front with an all-round performance, scoring his maiden IPL half-century and taking two key wickets with the ball. After openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Robin Uthappa returned to the pavilion, CSK did not get off to a good start with the bat, chasing 181.

Dhawan caught Ruturaj in the slips, while PBKS skipper Mayank Agarwal took Uthappa's forefront. Vaibhav Arora and Kagiso Rabada each took a wicket. After Moeen Ali pulled a delivery onto the stumps, newcomer Vaibhav Arora got his second wicket for PBKS. CSK skipper Ravindra Jadeja was out for a duck in the final over of the powerplay, and CSK were 27-4 after six overs.

CSK's struggles increased as Odean Smith extended to his wicket count by dismissing Rayudu in the eighth over. Shivam Dube opted to counter-attack as the asking rate climbed, and the left-handed batsman smashed five fours and one 6. CSK, on the other hand, still needed 108 from the remaining seven overs. After the Dube struck successive sixes to reach fifty off only 26 deliveries, Rabada delivered the 14th over, which yielded 18 runs for the sixth wicket.

Liam Livingstone broke the Dube and Dhoni partnership by capturing two key wickets in a row. Bravo was caught and bowled while Dube was caught at short-third base. In the 16th over, Rahul Chahar let up a six but battled back to remove Pretorius. Before Dhoni hit a four and a six against Livingstone, CSK needed 74 off the last four overs. The former CSK captain, though, was caught behind by newcomer Jitesh Sharma, who took a fine catch behind the wickets. Chahar took his third wicket as PBKS finished the CSK innings in the 18th over and triumphed by 74 runs.

The Punjab Kings, who were given the opportunity to bat first, made two changes to their lineup: Jitesh Sharma and Vaibhav Arora were picked in the starting eleven. CSK got off to a great start with the ball, taking two early wickets. While PBKS captain Mayank Agarwal was caught inside the circle, Bhanuka Rajapaksa was run out for 9 courtesy to MS Dhoni and Chris Jordan's outstanding fielding. Liam Livingstone, on the other hand, made a grand entrance, smashing four fours and three sixes to relieve PBKS' early-wicket pressure. PBKS were 72-2 at the end of the powerplay, thanks to Shikhar Dhawan's strong strokes.

In the tenth over, Livingstone, who was caught by Rayudu off Jadeja's bowling, completed his maiden IPL fifty, as PBKS cruised over 100. CSK fought back by taking two wickets in two overs, dismissing both Dhawan and Livingstone. While Bravo knocked Dhawan, Jadeja took the initiative and took Livingstone's wicket, which was caught by Rayudu. Jitesh Sharma, a debutant for PBKS, kept the momentum going by playing confidently, slamming three sixes before being removed for 26 by Dwaine Pretorius in the 15th over.

Jordan, on the other side, ended Shahrukh Khan's innings when the right-handed batsman was caught for six runs by Pretorius. At the conclusion of 16 overs, PBKS were 152-6. Jordan dismissed Odean Smith in the 18th over for his second wicket of the innings. Before being caught in the deep by Bravo, Rahul Chahar smashed a four and a six each. Dwayne Bravo only gave up 4 runs in the penultimate over of the first innings, as PBKS scored a total of 180/8.
