The IPL auction 2022 is set to begin at 11 a.m. IST on February 12 in Bangalore. The IPL 2022 auction will be a mega auction because it will be for the biggest IPL ever, IPL 2022.

This year's IPL auction will feature a total of ten teams, Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans.


Each of which will be given a budget of INR 90 crores to build their rosters. On February 12 and 13, a total of 590 players are there in mega auction, 228 capped players, 355 uncapped players, and seven players from associate nations will be auctioned off in Bangalore over two days.

The base price for the marquee players has been set at INR 2 crores, and the list includes several world-class players (17 Indian players and 31 foreign players).

According to the rules, each of the eight existing IPL teams could keep up to four players ahead of the auction, with each team retaining no more than three Indian players and no more than two overseas players. The BCCI had authorised the two new teams to keep three players from the list of players released by the eight existing teams, with each of the two new teams being limited to two Indian players and one overseas player.

KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis, and Ravi Bishnoi were retained by the Lucknow Supergiants, while Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan, and Shubman Gill were retained by the Gujarat Titans ahead of the IPL auction in 2022. For the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League, KL Rahul has been selected captain of the Lucknow Supergiants franchise, while Hardik Pandya has been named captain of the Gujarat Titans.

For the first time, the BCCI decided not let teams to have a Right To Match (RTM) card in the IPL auction 2022, which would have allowed a lot of franchises to keep some of their existing players. In the IPL auction 2022, there will be no RTMs.
