UAE To Host IPL 2020 From Sep 19, All Matches To B

A piece of good news for cricket and Indian Premier League fans amid gloomy times. IPL chairman Brajesh Patel has announced that the 13th edition of the IPL will start in UAE from 19 September. All IPL matches will be played in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

The IPL 2020 was to begin from March 29, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the league had to be postponed. On 16 April, the BCCI postponed it indefinitely and it seemed that the 13th season of the IPL would not take place this time. But after the cancellation of two big tournaments Asia Cup and then ICC T20 World Cup, BCCI couldn’t miss out on the country’s most exciting sports tournament.

The BCCI has just announced the dates but the final schedule of IPL matches and the number of matches are yet to be revealed. It is believed that the IPL schedule can be released next week after the meeting of the IPL’s Governing Council.

First BCCI wanted IPL to start from 26 September but the later decided to start it a week ago so that the Indian team does not have an impact on the Australian tour as the Indian team will have to rest for 14 days when they arrive there as per the Australian Government rules.
