Wellington Test: Kiwis Score 216/5 At Stumps, Lead
The second day of the first test match between New Zealand and India, being played at Wellington’s Basin Reserve since Friday, was dominated by the Kiwis.

At the end of Wellington Test Day 2, New Zealand were 216/5 at stumps and have taken a 51-run lead over India with Kane Williamson’s 89 putting Kiwis in the driver’s seat.


Playing on Saturday morning, in the first innings of the second day of the test match, India’s sixth wicket fell after adding 10 runs to the score of 122 runs at the loss of five wickets, when Rishabh Pant was out after making 19 runs. 

After this, on the very next ball, R Ashwin also went back to the pavilion and seven Indian players were out. Later, the remaining three wickets also fell quickly and India’s first innings shrank at 165 runs.

Playing for India in the first innings, Ajinkya Rahane made 46 runs, Mayank Agarwal made 34, Mohammed Shami made 21 and Rishabh Pant made 19 runs.

Meanwhile, New Zealand’s Kyle Jamieson and Tim Southee took four wickets each. In response to India’s first innings, New Zealand’s first wicket fell at the score of 26 runs and Tom Latham was out after making 11 runs.

After this, New Zealand’s second wicket fell at the score of 73 runs and Tom Blundell was out after making 30 runs. Later, captain Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor steadied the team and took the score forward. Meanwhile, Williamson played well and scored the 32nd half-century of his test career.

New Zealand’s third wicket fell when it had a lead of one run over India and Ross Taylor was out after making 44 runs. The Kiwis’ fourth wicket fell at the score of 185 runs and captain Williamson was out after making 89 runs.

Later, New Zealand’s fifth wicket fell at the score of 207 runs and Henry Nicholls was out after making 17 runs.

At the end of play on the second day, New Zealand has made 216 runs at the loss of five wickets in the first innings. BJ Watling with 14 runs and Colin de Grandhomme with four runs are present on the crease.

New Zealand has scored a lead of 51 runs over India on the basis of the first innings.

Playing for India, Ishant Sharma has taken three wickets and Mohammed Shami and R Ashwin have taken one wicket each.
