Facebook Rebrands Itself As FACEBOOK
Social Media giant, Facebook, in a blog post announced that it has rebranded itself as FACEBOOK, in order to make it convenient for the consumers to distinguish its various products and services from the brand itself. It has also introduced a new logo.
Today, we’re updating our company branding to be clearer about the products that come from Facebook. We’re introducing a new company logo and further distinguishing the Facebook company from the Facebook app, which will keep its own branding, said Facebook CMO, Antonio Lucio.
Facebook owns Instagram which has over 1 billion users, WhatsApp (1.6 billion users) and Facebook Messenger (1.3 billion users). Facebook itself has about 2.4 billion users.

This brand change is a way to better communicate our ownership structure to the people and businesses who use our services to connect, share, build community and grow their audiences, said Lucio.
The move comes at a time when there is a growing demand from politicians and consumer advocates for the US government to break up the tech giant into various pieces, thus reducing the mammoth power that it enjoys.
