Trump Calls Snapchat CEO “Radical” After Platform

In a sharp reaction to Snapchat’s move to curb US President Donald Trump’s visibility on their platform, Trump’s 2020 campaign manager, Brad Parscale accused Snapchat of trying to rig the 2020 election by “suppressing” Trump and “promoting” Joe Biden and called Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel a “radical” who would rather “promote extreme left riot videos and encourage their users to destroy America than share the positive words of unity, justice, and law and order from our President.”

The reaction comes after Snapchat’s parent company Snap said that President Trump won’t appear in the Discover section of the Snapchat app. The decision was taken after the POTUS said that “vicious dogs” and “ominous weapons” would have been used against protesters if they had crossed the White House fence.

The US is in turmoil, witnessing mass protests across the country, following the racial killing of an unarmed black man by the Minneapolis police.

“We will not amplify voices who incite racial violence and injustice by giving them free promotion on Discover,” the California based company said in a statement.

“Racial violence and injustice have no place in our society and we stand together with all who seek peace, love, equality, and justice in America,” Snap further stated.

Snapchat is not the first social media platform to put a curb on Donald Trump. Earlier, Twitter censored one of his tweets for “glorifying violence” after the platform started adding fact-checking tags to manipulative content. Trump retaliated by signing an executive order which makes social media companies take more responsibility for the content shared on their platforms.

Amid the ongoing tussle between the White House and social media companies, Facebook has remained on the sidelines and even faced flak from its own employees for allowing Trump’s recent posts on the world’s biggest social media platform without any warning label due to its hands-off policy.
