The Serum Institute of India, which is at the forefront of manufacturing the Oxford University vaccine and will hold the phase 3 clinical trials in India from next week, has been issued a show-cause notice from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) after it failed to halt the human trials even after they were stopped all around the world. In its notice, the DCGI expressed strong resentment and asked when the clinical trials of the vaccine have been stopped in countries like the US, UK, Brazil, and South Africa, why the Serum Institute of India did not inform the Central Licensing Authority and patients and why no report was submitted regarding its adverse effect.
