COVID-19 Pandemic Pushes 37 Million Into Extreme Poverty

37 million people worldwide have fallen prey to poverty during the coronavirus pandemic, says a report by the Melinda Gates Foundation. These are people whose daily income is just Rs 139.84. Apart from these, there are 6.8 crore people in low-middle income countries who have been hit by poverty during COVID-19 and their income for one day is just Rs 242.87. The report says poverty was decreasing in the world for the last 20 years, it has started to increase again due to the pandemic.
