The migrant crisis on the borders of #Poland and the #EU intensified yesterday after large numbers of migrants who had spent nights outside in the freezing, subzero cold, stuck between the borders of Belarus and Poland. Visuals have emerged sowing them trying to cross the barbed wire fencing and facing tear gas and water cannons as a response from security forces. 

The latter's borders are also the 'frontier' of the European Union. The EU has blamed Belarus for inciting migrants to come to its border as a retaliation for #sanctions on his country for his government's suppression of protesters after his 6th presidential election 'win'.

The EU has now imposed further sanctions seeking to punish airlines, travel agencies, and other individuals connected ith what it calls "human trafficking" of #migrants People were see trying to breach the barbed wire fences and were met with a force deployment of more than 15,000. There were reports that some migrants had still managed to cut through despite the heavy presence of police and border security.
