As per an SBI report, 51 percent of new COVID-19 cases were coming from rural areas in July, which has increased to 54 percent in August. According to a 2019 report of the Union Health Ministry, there are a total of 5,335 rural community health centers in the country but there is a severe shortage of doctors and health workers at these centers.
