Farmers say no MSP legalisation will lead to their exploitation in the market as the government will not be compelled to buy their foodgrain. Data show that there is a direct correlation between govt procuring crop from farmers and their prosperity, i.e., such states where governments buy large scale of farmers' produce, farmers are comparatively more prosperous there. This is the major reason behind the prosperity of the farmers of Punjab and Haryana and the poverty of the farmers of Bihar
