Evacuations Ongoing As Cyclone Jawad Likely To Hit Odisha Coast Today

These visuals show police evacuating coastal areas in Odisha as cyclone Jawad, which has been building up since last week, is likely to make landfall on India's southern and eastern coast. It is expected to have made its landfall at Puri around noon. Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba is overseeing the preparations and has stated that he dorected all concerned personnel and official to ensure that no lives are lost and property damage is minimized. 

64 NDRF (National Disaster Relief Force) teams are being deployed to regions likely to be hit by Cyclone Jawad. A disaster management cell and help desks for passengers at railway stations have been operationalized to smoothen coordination, information, and rescue.
