The Central government has asked airports and airlines across the country to play Indian music in common spaces and aircraft cabins. The civil aviation ministry has asked airports and airlines operating from India to make this change. Usha Padhi, the joint secretary of the ministry, said in the letter that it is very rare to hear "swadeshi" music in airports and airlines, ad cited the examples of the USA, Australia, and Middle Eastern countries.

While the US plays jazz music, Australia plays Mozart and Middle Eastern countries play "Arabian" music, the letter notes that Indian airlines and infrastructure should follow suit. This letter was also copied to Indian Council Of Cultural Research, ICCR. Watch video for details.
