The Indian government has recently announced that the country has crossed 60 crore vaccinations, and it has termed this as a "milestone". The Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that it took just 19 days to add 10 crore vaccinations and reach the 60 crore mark. However, when seen in terms of the total adult population and the population of the country as a whole, the proportion still remains low.

The electorate in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections was 89.78 crore, i.e., the population of adults (18+). Out of this, 13.62 crore double vaccinations have been administered. Rounding off the current adult population to 90 crores, we find that 15.13% of the adult population has been double vaccinated.

Therefore, out of the 60 crore doses administered in total, only 29% received full vaccination. According to Our World In Data, 23.5% of the total Indian population is partially vaccinated (first dose), and 9.55% of Indians as a whole are fully vaccinated. Worldwide, 32.85% of people have been vaccinated, and 24.75% are double vaccinated.

Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat are the top 3 states with the most number of total vaccine doses administered.
