In a boost to the country's space eploration and technology capabilities, the Gaganyaan crewed mission by India will take 3 humans to lower earth orbit (LEO), the closest point of space accessbile to humans. The programme is slated for the year 2023. ISRO is planning to unnmanned missions before launching the final one with a human crew. This will make India the fourth country in the world to send humans to space and will be a demonstration of its space technology capabilities in the new decade.
