A bomb blast occurred in the Ludia District Court premises in Punjab in the third floor washroom of the court. 2 people have died in the attack, although its motives orperpetrators have not been clarified by authorities as of yet. Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi rushed to the spot on receiving the news and said that it has been perpetrated in view of the upcoming Assembly elections in Punjab.

This incident follows two cases of “sacrilege” of the Sikh Holy Book Guru Granth Sahib and other holy icons, which led to irate crowds lynching the accused, including one within the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar.

A bomb blast also occurred within the Rohini district court premises last week, for which a senior DRDO scientist has been arrested.
