Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik directed district officials to ensure that the homes and orphanages run by Missionaries of charity in the state do not face any difficulty. Missionaries of Charity is an organisation founded by Nobel Peace prize winner Mother Teresa runs many leprosy homes and orphanages across the state. The CM directed the authories to ensure that no inmate suffers, especially due to lack of food or health related issues

After allegation of conversion Missionaries of charity is under crackdown. On december 25 Home ministry refused to renew the registration of Mother NGO under FCRA for not meeting eligibility condition.
