NEET PG: Resident Doctors Ramp Up Protest Day After Police Action

Resident doctors at Safdarjung Hospital who have been protesting against delay in NEET-PG eat counselling and other issues, say that they were brutally beaten and assaultedby Delhi Police on their march to Supreme Court ysterday, following which they have ramped up their agitation today.

The agitation has been ongoing since a month during which the doctor suspended OPD services and gradually stopped all work.

Yesterday, on Monday, resident doctors from central government hospitals of Delhi, such as Safdarjung Hospital, Lok Nayak Hospital, Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, and Lady Hardinge Hospital, took out a march on Monday, near Safdurjung hospital to Supreme Court but were stopped at ITO by the Delhi police.

This protest has also taken a political turn, with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi condemned the police action against the protesting doctors. In a tweet, he said, "Showering flowers was the PR of show off,In reality injustice is pouring in. I stand with #CovidWarriors against the atrocities of the Central Government. #NEETPG"

ORDA, AIIMS Resident Doctors Association (RDA) has also called for a strike on December 29 including the shutdown of all non-emergency services if there are no "adequate" response from the government over the alleged police brutality in the protest march.
