Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann addressed his first cabinet meeting on Saturday, just after ten of his ministers were sworn in, and passed a plan to create 25,000 government posts, including 10,000 in the Punjab Police Department and 15,000 in other government departments.

“The Cabinet has passed the proposal of providing a total of 25,000 government jobs, including 10,000 vacancies in the Punjab Police department and 15,000 vacancies in other government departments,” Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann said after his first cabinet meeting.

Earlier in its election pledges, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) stated that whenever the government is formed, it will offer jobs to unemployed youngsters.

Among the AAP's other election promises in Punjab, the party's national conveyor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal promised to improve the state's government schools and hospitals, create job opportunities, provide free electricity for up to 300 units per billing cycle, and give women over the age of 18 Rs 1,000 per month.

Kejriwal pledged a corruption-free administration and the management of the state's drug problem during his election campaign.
