It looks like India having “the cheapest internet in the world” will soon be left as just a dream, since the country’sprivate telecom operators are increasing their monthly prepaid rates. First, Vodafone-Idea and Airtel increased their rates, and now Jio is following suit. This Sunday, Reliance Jio is increased its tariffs by 20-21% in their new prepaid plans which are valid from today, i.e., 1^st December 2021.

The special thing is that people have been angered by this move and are expressing it on social media. After te announcement of tariff hikes, #BoycottJioVodaAirtel began trending on Monday, along with #BSNL.

People are tweeting “It’s now time to switch to BSNL network” and said it is a throwback to 2010 when BSNL was the cheapest telecom provider. Along with #BoycottJioVodaAirtel, people are advising each other to switch to BSNL.
