Amid intense campaigning for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections 2022, Akhilesh Yadav, the national president of the Samajwadi Party, said today in Kannauj that the BJP is a party of “hatemongers” and the people of Uttar Pradesh have decided to wipe the party out of the state. He commented on the mix-up between Piyush Jain, a perfume tycoon, and Pushparaj Jain, a MLC in Kanour from the party who had produced a perfume, launched in November, for the party as part of its election campaign in Uttar Pradesh.

Remarking on the IT Department raids on the home of Pushparaj Jain in Kanpur today morning, Akhilesh Yadav criticized the government, and in turn directed questions at the BJP.

He said: “they should tell from which banks these notes were withdrawn, and who approved it, what are the routes through which the gold [recovered from Piyush Jain] arrived, any agency can tell you that, and did they receive any information from the It department that the person is connected to the Samajadi Party. If so, they should tell us what connection it is”.

People Rejecting BJP, Elections Being Managed By “Their” Officials: Yadav

Yadav said that the BJP is coercing people into attending its rallies, and that administrative officials at all levels from DM’s, SDM’s etc. are involved in organizing rallies for the party. The moment the administration gets notice of an upcoming rally of the BJP, all buses, including that of roadways, schools, colleges, are boked, “influential people are threatened by police and labourers are told that their daily MNREGA payment will be credited after attending speeches for the day”.

He said that the BJP is aware that people are not supporting it, and this is the reason behind its raids on people associated with the opposition, giving the example of West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. “Wherever there is election, BJP orders raids, and even the officials involved in it say we have been compelled to come”
