The central government has increased the MSP i.e. minimum support price for Kharif crops and claims that the increase in MSP will earn farmers at least 50 percent more income. While the All India Kisan Sabha has called the move a "joke" with farmers and said that the MSP raised on paddy is less than 3% compared to last year. Farmers' organizations have been taking to the streets from time to time to demand the implementation of the Swaminathan Commission report. Anjali Ojha reports
