New figures show that this year around 500 people have died due to storms, floods, and landslides across the country. The worst devastation occurred in West Bengal due to the storms, while rains and floods have wreaked havoc in many states including Assam, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Bihar. More than 70 teams of NDRF are engaged in relief and rescue operations in different states.
