The Congress party lead by Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi went to meet the Preident of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind today on the matter of Lakhimpur Kheri violence. In a statement to the media, Priyanka Gandhi said that the "martyred" farmers and journalist Raman Kashyap must get justice. They also reiterated that Union Minister of State (Home) Ajay Mishra, father of the main accused Ashish Mishra, should be dismissed in order to ensure an impartial investigation. 

This is not only the demand of the kin of the slain people but also of the people of Uttar pRadesh and all "right thinking people" in the coutnry. She said that vast sections of the state's people have no recourse to justice at present. She said that the Congress raised the demands of the families of the "martyred" soldiers and deceased journalist in the Rashtrapati Bhawan.
