More than 55 people were killed in the riots that engulfed north-east Delhi in February, but it has become difficult to investigate the riots and get justice in court. LG Anil Baijal has dismissed going ahead with a panel of lawyers constituted by the Delhi government for the probe and has instead issued an order to approve a panel chosen by the Delhi Police. The role of the Delhi Police in the riots was contentious and questions are being raised over the approval to a panel linked to the force.
