The Supreme Court on Monday heard a petition challenging the imposition of GST on products meant to help people with disabilities. The petitioner raised the question, "No tax is levied on ordinary people for walking but five per cent tax is being levied on disabled people for walking." The Attorney General KK Venugopal has argued, "Petitioner's demand on humanitarian level is commendable. The mere imposition of tax cannot be considered a violation of fundamental right, so that there is no judicial intervention in it."
