The Central Govt on Wednesday blamed fake news for the mass exodus of migrant workers during the pandemic-induced lockdown. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, the Government said, "The migration of large number of migrant workers was triggered by the panic created by fake news regarding the duration of the lockdown, and people, especially migrant labourers, were worried about adequate supply of basic necessities like food, drinking water, health services and shelter."
