Yogi Adityanath government claims that crimes are decreasing in Uttar Pradesh but the cases of crime against Scheduled Castes (Dalits) have increased exponentially in the state. Not only this, rape cases against Dalit women have increased by 43 percent in eight years.

Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of crimes against Dalits or SC community in the country. This has been revealed from the analysis of National Crime Records Bureau data released in the last eight years.

The NCRB in its 2020 report has not given the state-wise crime rate data against scheduled castes.

If we talk about 2013 to 2019, then the crime rate against the SC community has increased by 8 percent during this period. Uttar Pradesh has been on the top in the cases of crime against the people of the SC community since 2013.

For example, in 2013, a total of 18 percent cases of crime against Dalits were registered across the country, which increased to about 26 percent in 2019.
