On Saturday, a thousands-strong mobilization was organized under the banner ‘High Court, Vidhan Soudha Chalo’ (March To High Court, Assembly) In Karnataka which was concluded in Bangalore’s Freedom Park.

The protest was triggered by Principal District and Sessions Judge of Raichur Mallikarjuna Gowda removing a portrait of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar from besides that of Mohandas Gandhi (Mahatma Gandhi) during Republic Day celebrations in Raichur.

Organizations like Dalit Sangharsh Samiti (DSS), AICCTU, and student organizations participated in the call for protest beginning at City Railway Station by Samvidhana Surakhshana Maha Okkuta. Various visuals on social media show that the protests were peaceful, and largely well-organized, with no reports of violence or other hostile activities
