November 1 marked the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists. The United Nations highlighted the fact that 1,200 journalists had been killed in the line of their work between 2006 to 2020, and 62 lost their lives in 2020 alone, a year which the International Media Support (IMS) has called one of relatively fewer physical threats (but with an increased proportion of online violence).
