The southern state of Kerala has seen many landslides due to heavy rainfall over the past few days which has also caused floods in many districts. At least 25 people are reported dead due to the diaster. Rivers have broken their banks leaving localities and villages out of contact. According to media reports, five children also number among the dead.

However, experts are calling this a ‘human-made disaster’ and the state government is facing charges of negligence. It is anticipated that the death toll will rise further since many people are reported missing.

Rescue and relief agencies, however, say that the bodies of all lost persons have been recovered.
