West Bengal CM and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee is on a visit to Maharashtra to meet NCP chief Sharad Pawar who she described as “a very senior leader of the country”. She wanted to meet Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray who has recently been operated upon but could not due to health restrictions. Banerjee has been making the rounds and has met Opposition leaders around the country in a bid to form a united ront against the BJP-led NDA combine currently ruling at the Centre.

Mamata Banerjee interacted with civil society members in Mumbai where she raised a number of issues against the BJP led Central government under PM Narendra Modi. At the interaction, she gave examples of how the government tries to smear and “trap” her, for example by clicking photographs and then using and spreading them in a different context.

“If we are together, I am always very confident. Let us not divide the society, not divide the country. If we really want to fight with them [BJP-RSS-Modi Government], let us be united, wherever you are” she said at the meet. She said that while she and her party will fight for "everyone" and "all sections", special emphasis should be on "poor people".

Banerjee said that the PM Cares Fund is a “scandal” and questioned why its audit is not being allowed. “Tell me… more than ₹4 lakh crores have been taken, including those of government officers and employees… and such a big scandal this is: it will not be audited, it will not go to a relief fund; Nobody asked a question”

Responding to a question by an audience member o the BJP-RSS’s “fascism” inspired by Hitler and Mussolini, she said that if such civil society meetings are conducted “in every place”, then “these people will get scared”.
