Parliament Winter Session Day 5: Opposition Protests Continue

The opposition parties continued their protest at the Gandhi Statue in Parliament complex on Day 5 of the Winter Session. 12 MP's have been suspended from the Rajya Sabha from parties including the Congress, TMC, Shiv Sena, CPI (M) and CPM. "The suspension of MPs shows the arrogance of those in the majority. When they were in opposition they also used to disrupt Parliament proceedings. We will continue our 'dharna till the time we don't get justice.” said TMC MP Dola Sen.Congress leader and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi was also present in this protest. 

The Congress and DMK had also staged a walk-out from the Lok Sabha at Question Hour. 

Meeting Held ON Suspended MP's 

A meeting was held at the office of the Leader of Oppossition Mallikarjun Kharge on the issue of suspending 12 MPs form the Rajya Sabha for the remainderof the Winter Session. He had said in Parliament: “We are demanding the revocation of suspension of 12 Opposition members of the Rajya Sabha. We will hold a meeting and decide the future course of action"

Meanwhile, the Centre has asked the 12 MP's to apologize and said that the Leader of Opposition's allegations had "lowered the dignity of the House".
