Questioning the intent behind sending Indian soldiers unarmed into a Chinese encampment in the Galwan Valley in disputed territory, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that China has committed a huge mistake by killing Indian soldiers. On the intervening night of June 15-16 in Ladakh's Galwan Valley, there was a violent clash between soldiers of both armies in which 20 Indian Army men lost their lives. Sharped edged weapons were reportedly used in the fight. China also suffered casualties but has not released any details
